You want to get ahead? Maybe with a career in Germany? Our international master's program in Analytical Instruments, Measurement and Sensor Technology (AIMS) offers such an opportunity. With our program you will not only get the relevant theoretical knowledge, but also important soft skills as well as international experience.

The core of our program is sensor technology as a key technology in nearly every field of engineering. Automotive industry as well as telecommunication or processing industries are using sensors for their products. But you will also get acquainted with data analysis, computer simulation and other measurement and analyzing techniques. Companies are searching for qualified employees in this field and they gladly hire our alumni. We keep permanent contact to the companies to ensure that our program is updated always with the latest developments.

We can offer the specialties of two universities to you: Coburg University as a specialist in sensor technology with its Institute of Sensor and Actuator Technology and the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) as a well-established and full-fledged multidisciplinary university with the College of Optical, Electrical and Computer Engineering.

All of the courses are taught in the English language. German or Chinese language proficiency is not required. However, to be able to start your career, German and Chinese language courses are integrated in the curriculum.

Our full time study program is two years (four semesters). The first two semesters are theoretical coursework at both universities: Summer semester takes place in Shanghai and winter semester takes place in Coburg.

In the third semester of the program, you will do a three-month internship: International students complete their internships at companies in Germany, German students in China.

In your fourth semester, students prepare their master’s thesis either in a company, a research institute or a research laboratory.

We do not only give you the theoretical background in lectures and seminars but we also show you how to apply these methods and technologies within different practical projects and you can put hands on in our practical labs.

You will learn principles and applications in the fields of measurement devices and procedures such as sensor technology, computer based measurement technology, analytic instruments, nanometrology, optoelectronic sensors and digital signal processing. To get along in Germany language training and intercultural soft skills are integrated in the program. Laboratory exercises, projects and computer assisted lectures provide additional support for effective learning.

When you successfully completed the study program including the master’s thesis at the end of the fourth semester, we will award the degree “Master of Engineering (M. Eng.)”
