- University: Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen
- Place of study, location: Tübingen
- Degree: Master, Master of Science
- Target degree: The M. Sc. in International Economics builds upon the expertise and reputation of our faculty in International Economics. You are intrigued by the claims often made about the benefits and threats from economic globalization? You think that scientific analysis should be brought to bear on this issue? Then this is your program. Graduating from this program is your first step towards an ambitious professional career in international institutions, in an international firm or in a government institution dealing with international economic policy. A series of specialized courses on different forms of economic globalization, such as international trade and multinational firms, labour migration and international capital flows and on international financial markets will allow you to become a true expert in International Economics. You can combine modern theory in this field with empirical methods and applications. Elective courses in several other areas of Economics serve as valuable complementary elements of your education. To allow for tailor-made personal curricula and research agendas, each program also features specialization courses. You may choose to further your specialization in a certain field or to broaden your education by attending courses of a complementary nature, including interdisciplinary elements. We place great emphasis on active student involvement. Attending a Master seminar, you will earn credits by writing a research paper on a topical issue of Economics, Econometrics or Finance, and by presenting your paper in class. Most importantly, you will write a Master thesis on a topic agreed upon between yourself and your thesis supervisor. Working on your thesis under the dedicated supervision of a faculty member will allow you, with due effort, to move up to the frontier of academic research. In doing so, you will acquire methodological skills and expertise that greatly enhance your career perspectives, including a possible continuation of your education in an excellent Ph. D. program. Double Degree Option: This program can be completed as a double degree with the University of Nottingham starting this coming winter term 2017/2018.
